Delete your data

You decide how long we keep your data. Here is how to get rid of it – directly in the tool, by email, or for the Chrome extension – and what we still have to keep for a while for legal reasons.

1. Delete your account and all content

If you have a Bewerbungskit account, you can delete it yourself – no request to us, no waiting for a reply.

  1. 1Sign in and open the settings.
  2. 2Switch to the “Account” tab and scroll down to the danger zone.
  3. 3Click “Delete account” and type the string shown on screen – that is the safeguard against accidental clicks.
  4. 4We send you an email with a confirmation link. The deletion only takes effect once you click it.
  5. 5A short grace period then starts during which you can still cancel the deletion in the tool. Once it has passed, your account and its content are deleted.
Locked out of your account?

If you can no longer sign in, just email us from the address you registered with – we will delete the account manually. support@bewerbungskit.de

What gets deleted

Deleting the account removes everything you created or uploaded in the tool:

  • Applications, statuses, notes, contact persons and follow-up dates
  • Application profiles including career history, qualifications and profile photo
  • Cover letters you created and saved
  • Uploaded documents such as CVs and references
  • Credentials and session data of the Chrome extension held on our servers
What we have to keep

Invoice and transaction data for paid purchases cannot be deleted along with the rest: commercial and tax law require us to retain it for the statutory periods (usually ten years, §§ 147 AO, 257 HGB). This data is kept for that purpose only and is no longer actively processed.

2. Delete data from the free CV check

The CV check works without an account, so you cannot delete this data yourself in the tool. The uploaded PDF is deleted automatically once the analysis is finished. We only keep the email address read from your CV and the analysis result so that you can retrieve your result later.

So we can find the right records, please email us from the address your result link was sent to. One sentence is enough – you do not have to give a reason.

3. Data held by the Chrome extension

The extension only stores what it needs to work, locally in your browser: your login token, saved job watches and jobs not yet transferred. This data only leaves your machine when you save a job to your account.

  • To sign out: log out inside the extension – this discards the stored token.
  • To remove everything: uninstall the extension via chrome://extensions. Chrome deletes the extension's local storage along with it.
  • Jobs you already saved to your account live on the server – delete those in the tool or together with your account.

Your other GDPR rights

Besides erasure (Art. 17 GDPR) you have the right to access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and objection (Art. 21). You can withdraw any consent you gave at any time with effect for the future. You may also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.

All the details are in our privacy policy.
